11/4/2023 Saturday @ 10:45a – Plant the Drainage Area off Main St. near Overlook Rd.
This project was postponed from last year, so we are trying to complete it before the end of 2023. We have approximately 10 to 13 small shrubs and trees to install. It shouldn’t take long.
Bring your gloves, shovel and personal refreshment.
Park at one of two locations and then walk to the Drainage Area:
1) Shipman Nursery on Buttonball Lane (up the driveway on the right at the intersection of Main St. and Buttonball) walk to site
2) Earle Park & American Legion building on Main St. walk to site
11/12/2023 Sunday @ 9a Winter Planters – help create beautiful planters for the Winter.
Two locations are offered this year. Town Center and South Glastonbury Center (Nayaug)
Bring your gloves, snips for cutting small branches, and a smile. This is a really fun event. You can come to help create just one planter or help with many.
If you have any evergreens or items of nature that are of interest, feel free to bring those with you. We can never have enough.
Location 1: Town Center – Meet at the corner of Hebron Ave & Main St in front of the stone wall (Panera side).
Location 2: South Glastonbury – Meet at the parking lot of Olympic Pizza
11/5/2023 Sunday @ 9a to 10a – Welles Shipman Ward House – Kitchen Garden cleanup before Winter. Bring your gloves, a rake if you have one and personal refreshments. Location: Welles Shipman Ward House on Main St in South Glastonbury.
11/4/2023 Saturday @ 8:30a – The Medians – Bring your gloves, hand clippers and personal refreshment. This work will include cutting back perennials and roses on both islands. Pruning woody plants as necessary. We are planning to leave the leaves where we can. Location: The intersection of Rt. 17 & Main St. Park up the hill in the Shipman Nursery. Pickup a GPIP safety vest from the box at the bottom of the driveway on your way over to the medians.
10/28/2023 Saturday @ 9a (rain 11/4) – Buckingham Gardens – Fall clean up. Bring your gloves, hand digger, snips for trimming back plants, rake if you have one and personal refreshment. A trash bucket is helpful if you have one. Location: entrance to Buckingham Park at the corner of Hebron Ave and Manchester Rd. next to the Fire Station.

Location: Welles Turner Memorial Library on Main Street at the Patio to the left side of the Library looking at the Main St. Entrance
10/25/2023 Wednesday @ 9a (rain 10/26) – South Glastonbury Planters – clean out the planters. Bring your gloves, diggers, personal refreshments, and pots/containers if you want to try to overwinter any of these annuals. Some make great house plants too. A trash bucket is helpful if you have one. Location: Meet at Olympic Pizza parking lot.
10/23/2023 Monday @ 9a (rain 10/25) – Salmon Brook Gardens [East & West gardens] – Fall clean up – bring your gloves, hand digger, snips for trimming back plants and personal refreshment. A trash bucket is helpful if you have one. We start with the West Garden then walk across the street to the East Garden. Or if there are enough volunteers/members we will work both gardens simultaneously time. Location: Park at the Best Cleaners lot on Main St.
