All activities are dependent on weather and are on a week-by-week basis. Please sign up for the volunteer emails via information@gpip.org if you are interested in helping anytime throughout the season. Tasks will be sent out via email on a bi-weekly basis. Located to the right of the Hebert Clark home at 45 Canione Rd, Glastonbury, CT 06033. General schedule is: first 7 to 14 days we set up the fencing, create rows, lay weed barrier (biodegradable), and add compost. Second half of May we will plant the garden. For the rest of the growing season, we will be weeding, watering, pest control (no toxins are allowed) and harvesting as needed. In addition to people helping with the gardening tasks, we need people to pick up food from our gardens and donated food to be delivered to the Food Pantry at the Riverfront Community Center on Welles St. Garden produce needs to be delivered in time for recipients to shop on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Some food can be dropped off on other days to be refrigerated for shopping days. Approximately 40 families visit the Food Pantry weekly. As volunteers get the hang of the garden and its schedule they can come and go as they choose. Garden hours are daily from sun up to sun down. Contact: Pam at information@gpip.org or 860-659-3482
