10/2/2023 Monday – Fall Educational presentation and Member Meeting at the Riverfront Community Center

Fall Educational presentation and Member Meeting
Monday, October 2nd at the Riverfront Community Center

Starting at 6:00pm There will be a social hour to enjoy conversation, a lite sandwich dinner and volunteer sign-up for Fall work dates. At 7:00pm we will hold a brief business meeting (20 minutes) followed by a conversation with our guest speaker, Aubree Keurajian who will provide an Introduction to Ungardening. This conversation will go beyond just planting for pollinators and discuss how to incorporate principles of restoration ecology to turn your yard into a mini nature preserve, and how to identify plants, native “weeds”, and invasive species.

Aubree Keurajian is a professional field botanist and ecologist with a B.S. in the Science of Natural and Environmental Systems from Cornell University. She is from Connecticut, and after working around the country as an ecologist, returned home to found Ungardening Native Plants to educate about and promote native plants and ecologically minded yard care. She is a member of the Connecticut Native Plant Working Group and a steering committee member of the Coginchaug Outdoor Enrichment Center.
The Public is Welcome and Encouraged to attend this event. Bring a friend too.
