Glastonbury Partners in Planting will host its Annual Meeting on Monday, October 7th, beginning at 6:15 PM at the Riverfront Community Center, 300 Welles St., Glastonbury. Come enjoy a light buffet while signing-up for Fall projects and socializing with GPIP members and volunteers before the short business meeting begins at 7:00. Voting on new Officers and Directors will take place during the meeting. Afterwards Gerry Sherman, Horticulture Therapist and owner of Hello, Dahlia, will enlighten us with a presentation about the psychological, physical, social and educational benefits of gardening. Gardening is one of the oldest healing arts yet as a science it’s very new to therapeutic professions.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend. All are welcome! This is GPIP’s bi-yearly educational program.  For more information about the meeting and presentation, call Pam at 860-659-3482 or check out our website   www.gpip.org or Facebook page.

Gerry Sherman, Horticultural Therapist and Owner of Hello, Dahlia! Horticulture, will speak about using horticulture as a means for therapy. From its roots -using gardening as a means to treat those with mental health issues – to current applications and practices. Horticultural Therapy will be discussed in terms of rehabilitation, vocational training, education and much more, including therapeutic gardens and the future of the field.
